Scholastic Art & Writing Awards

Scholastic is known for it's book clubs in schools across the country, but did you know that they support student writers with annual writing and art competitions?


Scholastic offers dozens of contests for students in grades 7-12 throughout the school year (September through May), many are based on region and grade level at school. 


Right now, they are accepting submissions for their


Southeast Regional Writing Competition


The deadline is December 4, 2018. 


Winners will be announced on February 1, 2019. Awards are offered to students in the form of scholarships that they can use for college or future education.


All entrants will need to create an online account in order to submit their writing. There is a submission fee of $5.00 per submission ($20 per portfolio submissions). 


Writing Categories Include: 


Critical Essay
Dramatic Script
Flash Fiction
Novel Writing
Personal Essay & Memoir
Science Fiction & Fantasy
Short Story
Writing Portfolio (graduating seniors only)
