Unlocked is a new devotional magazine written by teens for teens. While they accept submissions from adult writers, they are primarily looking for teenage writers ages 13 and above.
Owned by Keys for Kids, Unlocked features daily devotionals for teenagers who are trying to walk according to the Christian faith and will premiere in 2019. Because they are a new publication, they are actively seeking fiction, non-fiction, essay and poetry submissions especially for their first few issues.
Be sure to follow writing guidelines exactly if you want your submission to be accepted and published.
Writing Guidelines for Unlocked:
Submit a gospel-centered devotional piece of 300-350 words—whether it be essay, poem, personal story, fiction, or other written art form. Connect God’s story with any topic you see in the world. How does Jesus fit into what you are wondering about, writing about, or experiencing?
• your name and mailing address
• a group of 1-10 verses for people to read before the devotion
• 2-5 discussion questions (up to 65 words total) for after the devotion (optional verse references for guidance may be included)
• a key verse—what is the Bible verse you want people to walk away remembering?
Please send teen devotional submissions to firstname.lastname@example.org.
$30 on acceptance
DO I HAVE TO BE A TEEN TO SUBMIT?
Authors must be at least 13 years old. If you are not a teenager, we welcome your submissions (and the wisdom your age brings), asking only that you consider your audience carefully. How does your devotional piece add gospel-centered value to our young adult readers as they navigate today's world?
Content submitted must be original. We are not able to republish content that has appeared in its current form in another publication or that has been posted on the web (such as a personal blog post).
Email us at email@example.com for further information.
