Stone Soup is a literary magazine just for you. Short stories, poems, and book reviews are written by kids and for kids. And they are looking for submissions throughout the entire year.
Here's the breakdown:
They accept submissions from kids 13 and younger.
Stories are generally between 1,000 and 2,000 words long.
Poems are typically free verse, not rhyme.
Book reviews cover both fiction and non-fiction books.
Word count for book reviews is between 450-600 words
Artwork is accepted as a stand alone or with a story.
Submit only 1 story at a time.
Poems can be submitted in batches of 3-5 at a time.
Authors and Artists will be notified if your submission is accepted for publication within 6-8 weeks. Stone Soup is published once every year. Payment is a free copy of the magazine. Additional copies can be purchased on their website.
Stone Soup asks that authors don't submit their work to other magazines while it is under consideration.
